Lee and Maureen Young Letter of Recommendation for Jack Adams of Adams Design I and my wife Maureen assumed the responsibility, as owners, of building our dream home, nestled at a 700 ft. elevation between the mountains and the sea in upper Makaha Valley. We were opposed to the idea of releasing the project to an architect for fear that our ideas, and the unknown feelings we wanted to find, would not develop. Although I have an engineering background, and my wife has a refined taste for decor, our attempts at working initially with an established designer draftsman team fell short. The design was too bland, lacking appeal and excitement. After completing the foundation, we decided to suspend construction until we could find the right design, one with the dream house feel. Thanks to the recommendation of Troy Adams of Studio Becker, we made contact with Jack Adams of Adams Design (no relation). Our first meeting with Jack was instantly convincing. His ideas were explosive. Questions he asked drew from us those hidden feelings needed to make our dream come to life. Jack interviewed us and simultaneously doodled on tracing paper. He conceptualized the exterior and interior in three dimensions. Within a few hours the essence of our dream home came to life and Jack's creativity carried our dreams to a new level. Jack coordinated the conversion of our and his ideas and his design concepts into computerized engineering drawings which became our new and final plan. After 5 years of construction we are happy to be living in our new home of which we are very proud. Thanks to Jack Adams our home, as experienced with our family, has exceeded our expectations and our love and appreciation for it continues to grow.
